WS Aware Workstation monitor Big Brother

The WS Aware workplace monitor Big Brother from SCS is a sophisticated surveillance system specifically designed to secure work environments against electrostatic discharges. This device is equipped with two Remote Terminal Big Brother CTA243 and provides comprehensive monitoring of grounding connections for tools, soldering irons, and desk mats. It measures the impedance for both low-resistance and high-resistance connections and monitors compliance with ANSI 6.1 and ANSI/ESD S20.20 standards.
Through the "Big Brother" monitoring function, the system detects individuals at the workplace who are not properly grounded and triggers an alarm if necessary. This is supported by a test voltage of only about 25mV for continuous monitoring of wrist straps. EMI events are detected at the grounding connections and signaled by a flashing yellow LED when adjustable thresholds are exceeded. Additionally, the device features an optical and acoustic alarm indicator, which can be disabled if needed.
The compact design with dimensions of 81 mm width, 32 mm height, and 57 mm length, along with a weight of 140 g, makes the WS Aware easy to integrate into any work environment. It is designed for operating temperatures from -37 to 63 °C and includes an RJ45 connection for efficient data transfer.

Workstation monitor WS Aware

WS Aware workstation monitor allows the permanent monitoring of two workstations. The measuring device equipped with a DSP (digital signal processor) monitors the flawless ground connection of users, tools and working surfaces. Furthermore, EMI events are registered and displayed. WS Aware monitors detect all grounding parameters of the working environment in accordance with the requirements of ANSI 6.1 and ANSI/ESDA S. 20. 20.

The WS Aware workplace monitor is available in two versions: with 2x Remote Terminal Standard CTA242 or with 2x Big Brother Remote Terminal CTA243

  • Permanent monitoring and logging of all detected events via a current data output by a Facility Monitoring System (FMS) or optionally via a digital MODBUS interface, for networking via Ethernet network
  • Monitoring of the impedance of two low-impedance (e.g. for tools, soldering irons, machines) and two high-impedance (e.g. table mats) grounding connections
  • Monitoring of EMI voltages occurring at the low-impedance grounding connections
  • Adjustable alarm limit values
  • visual indication of exceeding the set limit values by LEDs (OK green, alarm red, EMI voltage flashing yellow)
  • Additional acoustic alarm function (can be switched off)
  • Deactivation of unused inputs via DIP switch (corresponding indication by dark LED)
  • Two remote terminals for monitoring two double-wire wrist straps each (operator and visitor)
  • Permanent measurement of leakage resistance and body voltage
  • Terminals with Big Brother function: detection of a person at the workstation using a photo sensor and alarm triggering via the remote terminal in the absence of grounding
