What does stray voltage and grounding resistance mean

What does stray voltage mean?

It is well known that even low currents, known as creepage or leakage currents, originating from the tip of a soldering iron can have a detrimental effect on some sensitive components.

The stray or creepage voltage is measured between the soldering tip and the protective earth in order to determine the value of the leakage current to the protective earth or to an equipotential bonding. The soldering iron is earthed in order to discharge the stray voltage to an equipotential bonding or to the general protective earth

What does grounding resistance mean?

To protect sensitive electronic components on printed circuit boards from leakage currents, the leakage voltages are diverted from the soldering tip of the soldering iron via a continuous grounding conductor, usually to the protective conductor of the electrical network. For this reason, it is important to measure and monitor the electrical resistance of this path.
