Soldering iron FN 1101

The nitrogen soldering iron FN 1101 is specifically designed for the soldering station FN 1010 and is excellent for IoT applications. This precise tool offers a power of 95 W and operates at a voltage of 21 V, allowing for efficient heat transfer and quick heating times. With a grounding resistance of less than 2 Ohms and a leakage voltage below 2 mV, the soldering iron ensures a safe and stable soldering environment.
The total length of the soldering iron is 180 mm and the total weight including the tip is only 32 g, making it extremely handy. The cable length of 1.2 m provides sufficient freedom of movement. The composite type heating element contributes to the durability and reliability. Additionally, the soldering iron is compatible with the T36 series soldering tips, which facilitates the exchange and adaptation to various soldering tasks.

Nitrogen soldering iron seires FN110x

The soldering irons are designed for the FN 1010 soldering station. They can be used in conjunction with soldering tips from the T36 series. These have an integrated memory that collects and stores all process-relevant data during soldering (in real time). The built-in motion sensor in the soldering iron interrupts the power supply if the soldering iron is dropped.

The soldering irons differ in that the FN 1102 can also be used with nitrogen.

 

 

Improved wettability

A protective gas displaces oxygen, thereby reducing oxidation of the liquid solder, the surfaces to be soldered, and the circuit boards. 

Prevention of oxidation

Nitrogen escapes from the nozzle of the soldering iron and heats the soldering point. Thanks to this function, the soldering tip only needs to be used to apply the final temperature peak for the actual soldering process. This significantly extends the service life of the soldering tips. The time required for the actual soldering process is reduced by up to 25%. 

Preheating effect

Under nitrogen, the liquid solder behaves in such a way that the menisci at the transition between the soldering partners are much flatter. This is a result of the changed surface tension of the liquid solder.

Effects of the N2 system

Hot nitrogen escaping from the soldering tip has several positive effects:

  • Minimizes oxidation at the soldering tip
  • Keeps all fluxes active for longer
  • Reduces the time required per solder joint
  • Solves the problem of insufficient heat input that occurs with multilayer boards and solid shielding
  • Reduces the stress on heat-sensitive components
  • Reduces damage to multilayer ceramic capacitors
